Snow on your roof can lead to leaks, mildew buildup in your attic, and damage to your gutters. It has been a mild winter so far but we at SERVPRO of Greeley/Windsor know it is not over just yet. Pay attention to the following three tips for safe roof snow removal.

  1. Stay at ground level if possible. If it is a wet snow, you can assume it is slippery. Better to stay closer to the ground.
  2. Don’t let snow pile too high, remove as much as you can. Falling ice or a buildup of snow can be dangerous. The weight of the snow on your roof can also result in water leaks.
  3. Use a plastic shovel. They are lightweight, flexible, and easy to handle. Snow is also less likely to stick to a plastic blade.

If you experience water damage, call the professionals at SERVPRO of Greeley/Windsor at 970-353-1388.  Our trained technicians are eager and ready to help you with all your mitigation needs.
